In November 2025 we introduced a new, native-built course player as a first step towards creating a more streamlined and flexible online learning experience.

New features include:

  • Full course player redesign

  • Centralized course resources

  • Improved discussion functionality

  • Searchable course content

  • Integrated course notebooks

  • Lesson bookmarks

  • Searchable video transcripts

Check out the video below for a quick guided tour:

Full course player redesign

While the entire course experience was redesigned from the ground up, the layout and functionality should feel familiar and intuitive – you'll find the course curriculum in the left-hand pane, and course-specific tools and resources on the right.

Important updates:

  • The left-hand side curriculum now includes a toggle to view either the full course outline or bookmarks that you've saved

  • The course progress bar is now visible above the video player

  • The right-hand menu gives you quick access to features like search, discussions, notes, bookmarks, and course resources

Important: You must click "Complete & Continue" to mark a lesson as complete after viewing a video or completing a quiz

Centralized course resources

All course resources are now accessible from the right-hand menu, and are no longer tied to specific course lessons.

This allows you to access resources at any point in the course, and download a single zipped folder containing everything you need.

Best practice: Most courses are project-based, and we strongly recommend following along from home. Make sure to download and save a local copy of the course resource files before beginning each course.

Improved discussion functionality

You can access lesson discussions from the right-hand menu, where you can create new posts, track replies, and edit/delete discussions you've posted.

Discussions support rich text editing (including text styles, code, bullets, links and quotes), along with the ability to copy-paste or drag images directly into the text box.

Important: Make sure to check the "Watch discussion" box if you want to receive email notifications when replies are posted

Searchable course content

Click the magnifying glass in the right-hand menu to search all course content and navigate to specific lessons based on topics or keywords you are interested in.

Important: Clicking the 'X' icon clears your search, and clicking anywhere outside of the search window closes it.

Integrated course notebooks

The notes icon in the right-hand menu launches an integrated notebook, where you can add comments without switching tabs or leaving the course experience.

Notes support rich-text editing, and can be downloaded as a local file for you to access while you're offline or on the go.

Important: Notebooks are course-specific, so you can access your notes from any lesson within the course.

Lesson bookmarks

Bookmarks allow you to mark important moments throughout the course, so that you can easily revisit them later.

Clicking the bookmark icon in the right-hand menu marks the timestamp of the current lesson, and opens a dialog box where you can add a bookmark title and description.

Saved bookmarks can be accessed by clicking the toggle above the course curriculum. Here you can show or hide descriptions, or click the ellipsis (3 dots) to edit or delete your bookmarks.

Best practice: Use clear and descriptive titles to keep track of your bookmarks and navigate them quickly!

Searchable video transcripts

Full video transcripts can be accessed from the video player menu, and allow you to search timestamps or navigate transcript text as the video plays.

Transcripts are auto-generated, and (currently) only available in English.

Best practice: Use transcript search when you want to pinpoint a specific topic within a course lesson

This is just the first step in upgrading the learning experience at Maven Analytics, and we can't wait to share what's next!
